How to apply eyeshadow properly?

Ive never been sure how, so can you help me ?How to apply eyeshadow properly?
i get 3 dif shades of colours. put the lightest 1 on 1st.the darkest 1 on the corner of the eyelid and use the middle 1 from the end of the darkest to 3 quaters of the way across the eyelid.then blend them together so it looks like the colour fades from dark to light!use a eyeliner on the top lid after.the samecolour as your eyeshadow! hope i dint complicate u.How to apply eyeshadow properly?
I really had a bad problem with this until I found this make up artists site on MySpace. She has pictures on how to apply eye make up. She also has step by step instructions which I found really useful.

You can use the tip of your finger if you don't have the applier. Dip either in the eye shadow and then close the eye you plan to put it on leave the other open and rub your finger or applier on your closed eyelid.

First you need to buy a Wagner Power Brush. Then pick-up a gallon of your favorite color paint and load it into the Wagner. Fire that baby up, face the paint gun at your eyes and blast away. Be sure to mask off the areas you don't want the paint to get on with that cool blue painter's tape and you should probably put a couple of drop cloths around the bathroom ... especially behind you ... just in case you over-spray! I use 3 shades. The medium one goes on first, just on the eyes-lid, then wet the brush a little and add the darkest shade from the middle of the eye-lid, to the outside corner of the eye-lid and blend it. then i get the lightest shade and apply it right up to the eyebrow. Hope that helps. x
